Thankful for Fortuitous Trips!

La Alhambra, Granada
"Clementine"
For those of you who didn't know, Kerry and I met in Spain exactly three years ago today! A mutual friend of ours put together a vacation to southern Spain thanks to a free timeshare. So six of us traveled around Andalusia to see Granada, Cordoba, Malaga, Seville, Mijas, Puerto Banos, Gilbratar, and Morocco. By pure coincidence, I ended up in this small orange car (we knicknamed Clementine) with Kerry and her sister Maret. Needless to say, driving around Spain gave Kerry and I plenty of time to talk and get to know each other. It's fun to reminisce about what each of us was thinking at various times throughout the trip because the last thing we expected out of this trip was to find our future spouse!

Happy Halloween!

Lacey with her cousins, Becky and Jacque and with her Grandpa.

For months, I've been looking forward to Halloween because I thought it would be so fun to dress up my baby in some cute costume, take pictures, visit the grandparents, etc. However, when Halloween actually neared, I became somewhat disenchanted because 1) It can be somewhat challenging to find baby costumes (why must everything start at 12 months!) 2) Those that I did find were either cheap and ugly or brutally expensive an 3) people kept outbidding me on ebay! So, you can imagine my delight when I found what I thought was an adorable, reasonably priced costume about a week before Halloween. My bubble was soon burst, however, when Dave came home from work and I excitedly took out the costume. The conversation went something like this:

K: "Look honey! I got Lacey's costume!"

D: "What is it?"

K: "It's a pink cheetah"

D: "There's no such thing as a pink cheetah."

K: "Well, there is such think as a cheetah and she's a girl, so she can be a pink cheetah."

D: "Okay"

K: "No, not Okay. I want you to like her costume."

D: " I do. It's just that there is no such thing as a pink cheetah."

Even so, you have to admit, she does make a cute pink cheetah, right?
