I know today is the day that everyone is going to post their cute St. Patty's Day posts. I thought about doing that, but since all 3 kids woke up with runny noses, I wasn't sure how cute those pics would be. And, I've been thinking a lot about my T. For those of you who follow my blog and/or talk to me on any kind of regular basis know that Tanner is my energetic, non-stop little guy. Sometimes when I talk about Tanner, I feel like it may come across as negative or complaining (like when I talk about having to chase him up to the front stand in church on a regular basis, when he runs out in the street, when the pediatrician calls me at home to check on me after we've been there and I've had to tackle T the whole time, when he climbs, breaks, destroys, etc....), but I love that little guy more than anything in the world. And today is his 2 3/4 birthday. So, instead of a cute St. Patty's Day post, I'm going to do a Tanner post and highlight all the things I love about this (currently) snot-nosed, red-cheecked little guy.
I hope this doesn't come across as bragging; I don't mean it to. But, I always say that T's two (I know he has a lot more) redeeming qualities are that he is cute and he's smart. For months, he has known all his colors in both English and Spanish. He can count to 15 or 16. By the time he was 2 1/2, he was speaking in 10-12 word sentences. He's like a sponge. He asks questions all the time and he remembers what you tell him. It seems like he can read because if you read him a book more than once, he has it down. He'll turn the pages and "read" it back to you. He knows about 15 different species of sharks. "Mom, I'll be a shark and chase you. I'm a Hammerhead!"
He wakes up at the crack of dawn (and usually in the middle of the night too - urgh, but I'm keeping this positive!) and is ALL BOY (trucks, trains, balls, cars, sound effects, etc) ALL DAY. But when he goes down at night, he always looks at me and says, "Mom, Snuggle buggle." That means he wants me to lay down next to him and cuddle him. Tanner is so sweet and so funny. So, Tanner, when you read this some day, you'll know that you were not an easy 2 year old. But I hope you also know that every day you absolutely amaze me and that your mother loves you a hundred million!
