County Champs!

2026 Champions!!
Riley's SPHS JV soccer team was hopeful this would be the outcome since they have won Counties the last 5 years in a row and since they had an undefeated season, but their opponents, Broadneck High School, is a team they only beat by a score of 1-0 during the season, so we knew it would be a tough game.  And it was!  The final score was 1-0.  That one goal came about 1/3 of the way through the second half and I was so grateful because Riley was the goalie and it would have given me a heart attack if we would have had to go to PKs!

Riley and Kate
I love this picture because Kate, despite years of playing competative soccer, didn't make the team last year.  Most girls throw in the towel after that, but Kate decided to give it another go.  This year, not only did she make the team, but she earned herself a starting position and got a lot of playing time in every game including the County Championship!  Way to go, Kate!

Lacey Cheering on the Cougars Over the Fighting Irish!

BYU and Notre Dame have only played each other 9 times prior to last night, so they are always BIG games when it happens!  The last time they played each other was in Las Vegas over four years ago.  So it was a big deal when #3 Ranked Notre Dame came to Provo this weekend to play the #8 Cougars. And Lacey got a ticket to go!

ESPN's Game Day came to BYU campus, so Lacey went to see that too.

On over view of the crowd at GameDay in front of Heritage Halls, where Lacey lived last year.

In the stadium and ready to cheer on her Cougars!

With her roommate Gabi and thousands of her fellow classmates.

Storming the field after the crazy, nail-biter, stressful-to-the-end win nearly four hours after kick-off!

Fun weekend to be a Cougar!  And so glad Lacey got to experience it all in person!!

Happy 61st Anniversary!

Rita and Larry celebrated their 61st Anniversary on Friday.  We offered to take them to dinner to celebrate, but they opted to come over to our house instead for pizza, salad, cake and a hang out.
They may be rethinking their decision with the number of Ella photobombs during my attempt to get a good pic of them!
One....

Two....

Three....

Four....

Five.... (Jacque/Ella double photo bomb)

Finally!
I looked up some stats online and found out that only 1-2% of all couples married today have been married for over 60 years.  Pretty awesome to reach this milestone! 💗

Riley's Homecoming and Goalkeeping

Last night was Riley's Homecoming dance.
The theme was Alice in Wonderland so she wore a light blue bow in her hair as a nod to the theme.

Riley went with a group of her closest girl friends.
From left to right: Claire, Izzy, Riley, Evi, Violet.

Let's get silly 😜

With her good friend Evi.

And with Izzy.

Also this week, Riley had another HS soccer game.  Their team is undefeated so far this season and have only had one goal scored on them the whole season.  But they played Chesapeake HS on Thursday night, which is our toughest competition.  So here is Riley going through her pre-game ritual getting herself psyched up.

Smacking away the ball.

She ended up on the ground in the melee (can you see her yellow jersey sticking out from behind #13) and it looked like the other team might score, but quick as lightning, Riley popped back up and caught the ball in the knick of time!

Goal kick!

And a 3-0 Victory pretty much seals the deal to compete in the County Championships in 13 days!
