And it begins....

Lacey got over her fear and started walking yesterday after church. We had seen her take a step here and there, but last night she really started walking. She was so proud of herself and we were too!

(By the way, that's strawberry filling on her face. What can we say, the girl loves to eat)

Go Cubs!

As anyone who has known me for any length of time can attest, I am a die hard Cubs fan. I've loved them since the 80's and can still recite the names, numbers and positions of every player on the '89 team when they were the Eastern Division Champs. Well, ever since I moved away from Chicago in '94 to go to college, Cubs games have been harder and harder for me to get to. However, Washington DC (Nationals) just built a brand new, beautiful stadium and happened to be hosting none other than the Chicago Cubs this weekend! So, we got a baby-sitter for Friday night and headed out! It was great because I combined doing two things I love to do -- going out on dates with my husband and Cubs baseball! They ended up losing :( but we still had fun! And by the way, before my family starts making comments about me not wearing Cubs colors, let me remind you that maternity wardrobes can be somewhat limiting! Anyway, GO CUBS (who just so happen to be in 1st place in their division)!

Spring is here...

Our little girl loves being outside and loves the park. She will scream if we pass a park without letting her get her swing on.

Back from the D.R.

We just got back from a wonderful week in the Dominican Republic! Kerry's mom and aunt flew out to Maryland and watched Lacey so that we could get away for a few days before taking on 2 kids under the age of 1 1/2 yrs. Therefore, we dubbed the trip "the calm before the storm!"
One thing I didn't realize was how hard it would be to leave my baby! I cried the day we left, which I'm sure is the first time I have ever cried leaving on a vacation! But once we got there and saw the GORGEOUS water and felt the 85 degree weather and knew Lacey was in good hands, we sat back, relaxed and enjoyed 5 days of total relaxation! We tried to spare you any bathing suit shots, but we have included some pictures of our resort and the beach where we stayed in addition to the Santo Domingo Temple. Santo Domingo is an 8-hour round-trip drive from where we stayed (Punta Cana), but we got up early one morning and went there and back in one day and saw a lot of the country that way. We had a nice 5 day break from responsibility, but are happy to be back with Lacey, who did great while we were away. Thanks Mom and Aunt JoEllen!
