Well, we packed a lot into yesterday. We started out the day by going to all the kids sporting events. Lacey and Riley both had soccer games - their 2nd games of the season. And Riley scored her first goal of the season. We've also discovered she's actually quite a good goalie. Her coach put her in as goalie last week and again yesterday and so far, she hasn't let anyone score on her. Go, Riley!
But Tanner got all the pictures because his was the game where me and my camera were while Dave handled the soccer games. And, although it was T's 4th game, it was their first home game, so it was kind of a big deal because they had a scoreboard, announcer, music, cheerleaders, etc.
He's #32
He usually plays defense but his coach put him in offense during the 4th quarter and T thought that was pretty cool since it was his first time doing that during a game.

Then, I headed to Andrews Airforce base in DC with the younger three kids. Dave had some things he needed to do and Lacey was plum tuckered out after her soccer game, so T, R, and E headed to the 2017 United States Air Force Air Show with me.
This is seriously the biggest airplane I've ever seen in person in my life. It was SO big!!! Amazing that technology exists to get it in the air!
We got to go inside and sit in the jumper seats which was pretty cool.
I seriously love that my 9yo still insisted on wearing his "flight suit" to the air show. He looked so cute and got so many comments.
Future pilot (?) with current pilot
And we loved watching all the sky-divers and sky jumpers.
And going in the planes and checking out the cock pits
Getting in position in the belly of the 459th Air Refueling Wing
Then we checked out some more cool planes doing flight formations
And then went inside the hangar where we got to try on flight helmets and masks
And do some simulations
And meet some nice pilots
Then checked out a couple more cool planes
And then we awaited the main attraction..... the Thunderbirds!
Absolutely unbelievable. Totally amazing. Truly a sight to behold.
It just gives you a sense of how powerful the United States military is, how necessary it is to be able to defend ourselves and what can happen when talent, hard work and technology merge. So glad we went!!
And then, we wrapped up the day by heading back to DC (30 minutes after I got home from DC with the kids, I headed back there with Dave and friends!). We decided to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Princess Bride by watching it with friends...... And Cary Elwes (Wesley)! Very fun!
What I learned:
- They were originally considering Jimmy Stewart to be cast as the Grandfather
- Robin Wright (Princess Buttercup) was the last to be cast because they originally wanted a British actress
- Wesley and Montoyo did their own fight scenes. They were trained by two men that did all the light saber/jedi scenes for the first 3 star wars movies.
- Cary Elwes broke his toe a week into filming, so they saved the sword fighting scene to be shot at the very end once his foot had (mostly) healed
- The only dialogue that is improvised is between Billy Crystal and Carol Cane
- The ROUS are not robots - they are little people inside costumes
- He said that they are all still in touch and "I can't remember a day without laughter on this set."
