Yesterday, we kept our rental car from the day before and drove it all over the island. We heard of a "locals beach" called Fokos. There was no way to get there unless you had your own car (which thankfully we did!) and you truly felt like you were getting a tase of old school Greek island life as we drove there. Came across this "National Geographic" shot......
The good news is that Fokos beach was absolutely beautiful and we had the ENTIRE beach all to ourselves. Not a soul around. The bad news was that it was super windy so we realized it wouldn't really be enjoyable to stay given the weather. So we enjoyed our few minutes of solitude and then got back in the car to try another beach!
Next, we went to Platis Gialos Beach. It was fantastic! The weather was great, there were tons of amenities and the beach was fabulous. We stayed there right up until we had to return our car (at 2pm) but could have easily stayed longer! Two thumbs up for Platis Gialos!
We're all set!
We "stayed" at Brancos (rented their parking and beach umbrella/chairs). They were great and I would use them again!
The water was chilly but it was as clear as glass!
Sadly, it came time to return our little marshmallow car. So glad we did this - we got a lot of exploring done in this little car!
And then we went back to our hotel to relax for a couple hours. Rhenia was awesome. The owner, Andreas was the best!
Our balcony.... all set up for some great relaxing with awesome views!
Then we headed back into town to go on a self-made Mykonos walking food tour. We started with "I scream" and loved it so much that we came back here at the end of the night for a second round (shown here)!
Next, we tried Loukoumas. Yum!
And then we had gyros (but we had so many this week, that we didn't take pics of that)
Then we headed to the Windmills to watch the sunset with a view of Little Venice.
And we realized while sitting there that it was in this exact spot that the ending scene of Bourne Identity was filmed, so we went down and explored and took a picture there and watched the ending scene on YouTube while we stood in the exact spot. It was pretty cool!
And then the sun set over beautiful Mykonos.....
And that wraps up Three nights/2.5 days of Mykonos Awesomeness.
