Super Bowl Round Two

The Academy Awards is just like Part B of the Super Bowl in our house. The first year we were married, on the night of the Oscars, we made all kinds of yummy food and had a wonderful time eating our way through the night. We had so much fun, that we have continued this tradition every year since. And it gets more fun every year. Maret, my sister, joined us a couple years ago and even taught us how to shimmy while we cook :) Anyway, this year was no exception..... we made bacon wrapped chestnuts, red velvet cake with home made frosting and lots of other things that a dietitian has no business eating! In fact next year, will you all come to my house so we can divide up the calories?

Happy Valentines Day... and other High (and low)-lights

Lacey discovers how to put T in her doll stroller (admittedly with a little help from Mom since he weighs about as much as Lacey!)

Hightlights of the week: We had a very nice Valentines Day. We enjoyed heart-shaped pancakes in the morning and a date night without kids that night! We got a baby-sitter and went out to dinner at P.F Changs. We also did a little shopping at the mall which led to another highlight.... a fabulous dress purchase at Banana Republic which was originally $175 that was on sale for $29.99. yeah! Another highlight..... I celebrated Facebook's 5 year anniversary by "Finally" (as everyone says) joining. And I currently have 70 friends and counting. This has been an ego boost for me -- I didn't realize I had so many friends! (Although I fully realize that everyone else who has been on for a while has hundreds!) And it has been quite fun getting back in touch with high school and college friends.

Lowlights of the week: One word -- FLU. We dropped like fies this week except for Dave, the one hold-out. Tanner was sick all day on Wednesday. I put him to bed Wed. night hoping he would be better by morning since I work on Thursdays. He was. Lacey, however, woke up at 3am throwing up and this continued until after 10am. Needless to say, I didn't go to work. Lethargy and other GI distress that I won't mention accompanied both of them throughout the remainder of the day and I was so relieved to get them both to bed that night. I sat down around 9pm, exhausted from the two days and sleepless night of taking care of sick kids. It was then that I started to feel my own stomach churn. Ugh! I HATE throwing up! But there I was throwing up ALL NIGHT long. It was BRUTAL! But, we are all now on the mend and I pray we are all immune from getting it again any time soon!

Step Back, Federer..... Here I Come!

Dave loves tennis. No, let me rephrase that. Dave LOVES tennis! In fact a couple weeks ago, he actually volunteered to get up and take care of Tanner at 3am when Tanner woke up. I started to get out of bed and I hear "Honey, go back to sleep. I'll get him." Then I hear him start to go downstairs after he got Tanner. "The bottle is up here" I tell him. He responds "But I'm going to feed him downstairs because the Australian Open is on live right now." Oh, I get it...... you mean he wasn't just volunteering for the 3am feeding out of the kindness of his heart? :) Don't get me wrong, whatever the ulterior motive is, at 3am, I'll take it!

Anyway, he's been wanting me to learn how to play tennis ever since we got married so that we can play together. He keeps telling me to take lessons and I keep telling him to teach me himself. He refuses -- something about my competitive nature and keeping peace in our marriage:) Well, as of this week, I am officially enrolled in an 8-week class that starts on March 21st. So move over Federer...... I'm right behind you!

When the food is gone..... Watch Out!

My Tan-man loves to eat. He has been that way since birth. I decided I would let him try baby food a couple months ago -- He LOVED it! So, I have continued to advance him to other soft foods and explore all the different varieties of food thinking he would find his favorites. I have not found a single food the kid won't eat. And this (video) is his reaction EVERY time he takes his last bite of food and realizes it is all gone. Don't worry; after documenting his very sad, but dramatic reaction on video, I put down my camera and fed him more.

Almost there....

Tanner is now 7 1/2 months old. He wants to crawl. He really, really wants to. He just can't quite figure it all out yet. Any day now....
