Our 15 minutes of fame...

So, we've been tagged by the Luangraths to post the top 7 celebrities we've met. You might think this would be an odd request, but celeb sightings have been quite common for us. Now, we're not including any athletes or musicians that we've seen as that would be too easy since you pay to see them. Each celeb meeting has a interesting story but that will have to wait for another time and place. So, here are our top seven:

7. Brooke Shields

6. Jake Gylenhaal

5. Kate Winslet - not pictured

4. Leonardo Dicaprio and Tobey Maguire - not pictured

3. Sandra Bullock

2. Julia Roberts

And the mother of all celebrity encounters.....

1. Oprah!!!

As you can see, this memorable picture is framed and on display in our house. Not only did Kerry meet Oprah, but she was invited up to sit on her couch and pose for a picture. The happiness on Kerry's face says it all!

Honorable Mentions: Christina Applegate, Paris Hilton (hardly honorable), Mo'nique, Mary J. Blige, David Schwimmer, Mike Myers, Seth Myers, Judy Greer, William H. Macey, Jaime Foxx, The Olsen Twins, Paul Rudd, Katie Couric, Ivana Trump, Sarah Jessica Parker, Renee Zellweger, Tim Robbins, Carlos Santana, Tiffany, and Trista Rehn.

So, instead of tagging anyone with this request, just tell us about your best celeb encounter!

Happy Birthday, Lacey!

Lacey turned a year old yesterday - I can't believe it! Whenever she gets excited, she does this thing where she moves her legs really fast against the floor and has thus earned the nickname (by the people that watch her on the two days a week that Kerry works) of "Happy Feet." We decided, given the time of year, that Penguins/Happy Feet was a great theme! So, complete with a penguin cake and all, we celebrated Lacey's first birthday and, as you can tell, she likes cake!

Lacey at one year:

19 pounds, 11 ounces and 29 inches

Favorite Book: Mouse in the House

Favorite Food: Cake, I guess!

Best Friend: "Pinky" (A stuffed pink flamingo she won't go to bed without!)

We love you Lacey! Happy Birthday!

Christmas in Chicago

Okay, so I realize Christmas was a few weeks ago, but due to the "Announcement " posting, we skipped over our Christmas pictures, so I am rewinding a bit here. We flew to Chicago on December 21st and spent the next 8 days with Kerry's family in Naperville, a suburb of Chicago. We had a great time! It was so nice for all of us (pictured) to be together. Ricky is on a mission, but he was the only member of the family we didn't see. There are 14 of us now with spouses and kids -- we've doubled in size! For those of you who have the "1000 Places to See before you Die" book, you'll appreciate our little venture out to "Superdawg" which is featured in this book. It definitely took some effort to get there! First of all, Dave mapquested directions there and after searching and searching, we finally pull up to the Superdawg Warehouse -- whoops! After finally making it to the actual place, we pulled up to the place where you park your car and make your order. It was freezing cold and we had two babies in the car, so I turned off the engine, but left the heat going and (accidentally) the lights on. After about 30-40 minutes, we go to start the car and it's dead! We eventually made it home, but what a fiasco! I'm not sure I would actually consider it one of the 1000 actual things you must experience before you die, but it certainly was memborable given all of our incidents in getting there and home! And another major highlight for us was going with my sister and her family to Nauvoo and Carthage. This was Dave's (and Lacey's) first time there and we enjoyed being there and spending time with Lindsay and family. We had a very Merry Christmas!
