Homecoming 2024

Lacey's final homecoming...... All the Seniors wore togas to school on Friday.

And then had a "gold out" to the football game on Friday night.

Saturday night was the homecoming dance.
Tanner went with his group of buddies.

My handsome boy.

And Lacey went with a group of friends, most of which are from the neighborhood and that she's known since Kindergarten when they all met here, at Shipley's Choice Elementary School.  So, they thought it would be fun to head there for some pre-dance pictures.

Where it all began!

And then we headed to Round Bay for pictures on the water.

I can't believe we are almost done raising this girl!  She went from baby to a Senior in the blink of an eye!

Daddy's girl.

Josie and Lacey - I've had them both in my early morning seminary class since Freshman year!

Lacey and one of her besties, Olivia.

Dave and I taking advantage of getting a pic with that amazing background! 🌅

Lacey and Tanner ran into each other at the dance and indulged me with a pic 💛💙

Team Building at Pemberton Farm

Riley's LAX team has undergone some pretty major changes over the past several months. One of the new players on her team owns and lives at Pemberton Farm, originally one of the largest Alpace Breeding farms.  They hired Dr. T, a former Division 1 Athlete and now a Sports Psychiatrist to work with the girls on Mindset Training.  Riley volunteered to help with one of his object lessons.

And then the girls went to work putting their new found knowledge to use doing a conditioning work out with Dr. T.  At this home, they had this amazing sport court with basketball hoops, a full-size tennis court, pickleball court (where they had a pickleball tournament amongst all the girls and Riley and her partner won 👏) and more.  The property is HUGE, bull of barns, stables, animals (alpacas, cows and more).

The pool and main house.

State of the art gym.

Complete with ice bath (Riley's first)  - she lasted just over a minute.

And sauna, which Riley enjoyed much better!

Go United '29
It's going to be a great season!!

Side note: Dave has been gone for the past two weeks - he did a week in Finland followed by a week in LA on back to back business trips.  I'm hoping he'll hop on here in the near future to make a post with some pics!

Goodbye to Peanut

Once kittens reach 8 weeks and 2#, we bring them back to the shelter in hopes that they will find get adopted and find their forever home.  This is always the hardest part as we of course get attached to our little temporary pets.

Ella taking random pics of me - so I posed 😉

Getting some sweet snuggles in with Dave on his last night with us.

And here is Ella saying her good-byes shortly before I left to take him back to the shelter.

We have now fostered 21 animals and each one has a little piece of our hearts.  We found out that Peanut got adopted within just a few hours of me taking him to the shelter.  Hope you have long and happy life, Peanut!  Glad you got to share the first part of it with us 💗

Ella: On the Field and On the Water

Last weekend, Ella's soccer team entered a Labor Day Tournament in Columbia, MD.
Here they are lined up and ready to go!

They did awesome and made it to the Championship game!  Ella played goalie in half of every game and offense in the other half.  Sadly, they lost in the Championship game, but they got 2nd place medals and had a great weekend!
They had their first official game of the season today and won 2-1, so they're off to a good start!

And in addition to school and sports, Ella still making time for fun with friends!  Her friend Ethan invited her to go tubing on his boat this weekend for one last hurrah before the Fall weather sets in.

These two have so much fun together 😊

Grand Slam in NYC

Dave loves tennis.  So, after 19 years of marriage, I've adopted his love of tennis as well.  As a result, we try to make it out to the US Open in NYC as often as we can.  Last year, we went with our good friends Lauren and Marc and Shawna and Rick.  We had so much fun with them, that we decided to do a repeat this year!  We headed up on the train Friday morning, checked into our hotel and then headed out to an early dinner.

Ready for some family style cooking at Love Korean BBQ!

Yum!

From there, we headed to MJ The Musical  at the Neil Simon theatre.

Always fun to see a show on Broadway!

And then we wrapped up the night meandering around Times Square.

The rooftop of our hotel has a pretty epic view of the Empire State Building.
Goodnight, NYC!

The next morning, we woke up early and headed out to Flushing Meadows for the US Open!

Great weather and great friends ready for an awesome day of tennis ahead!

Took this pic for Lacey - she loves Ben Shelton!

This year we had seats in Louis Armstrong Stadium, which was great!

First match: Putintseva vs Paolini
Second match: Errani vs Shnaider

Then we headed over to the practice courts where we got to see Coco Gauff up close and personal!

Look how close you get to the practice courts - such a great way to see your favorite players so close!  And you get to see their personalities too as they interact with their coaches and other players.

Taylor Fritz was there too, who as of now is still in it!  He plays in the Semifinals tonight.
We also saw Dmitrov and Ruud on the practice courts as well.

Then we headed over to the Grandstand to see Van de Zandschulp vs Draper

And then, for the highlight of my day...... Caroline Wozniaki vs  Ponchet.

Caroline is my favorite player.  She's 34 years old and has 2 kids and..... won her 3rd round match to advance to the 4th round in the US Open.  That's remarkable!!

I even got to meet her and snap a pic!

Then it was back to Louis Armstrong for the Diallo vs Paul match followed by the De Minaur vs Evans match.

And the three of us ladies indulged in some gelato as we reminisced about how we ended every day of our Italy trip this way! 🍧

And Dave ran into one of his mission buddies he served with in Valencia!  So fun to see Steve and his wife Kim there!

US Open 2024...... you did not disappoint!
