We woke up Wednesday morning in Oviedo, miraculously got our large tall van out of the tight, short, windy parking garage without a scratch and headed to Cudillero, a quaint, charming, scenic fishing villiage with a miniature Cinque Terre vibe.
From there, we drove to a scenic overlook called Playa del Silencio. Dave couldn't get over that this was Spain!! After having spent years of his life in Spain, living here for two years and five subsequent trips to the country, he'd never seen anything like this before. The mountains and the landscape in this Northwest region of Spain is unlike anywhere else in the country!
Back in the country where we met 22 years ago next month.
From there, we drove to La Playa de las Catedrales. This was the coolest! You can only come here at low tide. You have a couple hours a day where you have access to this incredible arch-covered beach. And even then, the tide doesn't always "cooperate." So we were lucky we were able to do this and it didn't disappoint!
We got back in the car once again and headed to Lugo!
Here we are walking the best preserved Roman walls in all of Spain, erected in the 3rd century, which completely encircle the town.
And then finally made our way to Santiago!
Check out that Cathedral in the background!
We were told the thing to eat here is Octopus 🐙, so we had to give it a try!
I think this was a one and done for me 😉
And then we went to walk around the jaw-dropping sight of the Cathedral at the Golden hour.
Goodnight from Santiago de Compostela 💗
